a brief bio

Jacob Don Reece “Jake”

Joined KAS 60-61 – January 29, 2008

Joined AF October 1956.  After Lackland, I arrived Keesler on Thanksgiving Day 1956.  After Morse Radio School, I was sent to March AFB, Riverside, California for Non-Morse Radio Intercept School.  In February 1958 I was sent to Ashia AFB, Ashia, Japan.  In August of 1958 I was transferred to the “mudsite” at Karamursel, Turkey and was there until February 1960.  (A1C, 29252, Charlie Flight)  After a 30 day leave I arrived Eglin AFB, Fort Walton Beach, FL in March 1960 and crossed-trained into Personnel.  I was discharged at Eglin in December 1960 after four years and two months in the AF.

I married my Pen-Pal “Frances Hyatt” whom I was writing while in Turkey, but never met until I arrived home.  We were married June of 1961 six months after I left the AF.  Still married to “Frannie”! (47 years in June 2008)  Two Children, three Grandchildren.

Started my sales career in 1962.  For the past 29 years I have been the Southern Region Sales Manager for Lionel Electric Trains.  Have been in sales for 46 years and Toy-Hobby Industry sales for 43 of those years.  Still selling Toy Trains at 70!  Some of us just never grow up.  :>)  Plan to keep selling as long as it remains fun, or until God or Lionel pulls the plug.

My sales career has taken me to Norfolk, VA in the early sixties, to Fort Lauderdale, FL in the late sixties.  I came back home in 1971.

I live in Pleasant Garden, NC just outside of Greensboro, NC – 6202 Oak Bur Court., 27313  Home (336) 674-9314 Cell: (336) 601-3522
