WILLIAM H. HESSELTINE

Sept. 1932 - Feb. 18th, 2010

Memorial services were held for Bill on Sunday Feb 21st at the Sardis United Methodist Church in Dadeville, Alabama.

Bill started his Air Force career in 1955 while with the Air National Guard in Tennessee.  He was a 2nd Lieutenant at that time.  During his illustrious 20 years with the Air Force, Bill had assignments at the following Air Force Bases in addition to Karamursel Air Station:  McGee/Tyson AFB in Tennessee, Sawyer AFB in Michigan, the Pentagon, Vietnam and Maxwell AFB in Alabama.  During this time Bill achieved the rank of Lt. Colonel and retired with honors in 1975.

He earned a Masters Degree from the University of Pennsylvania.

Bill was a very strong supporter of our organization and made it to nearly every reunion since being located, despite a number of physical challenges.  He always had very interesting stories to relate and strongly believed that those who served in Karamursel were, as he put it, the cream of the cream.  Bill too was the best of the best and everyone in the group will sorely miss him.

At the suggestion of Bill’s daughter, the group will be making a charitable contribution to the American Diabetes Association.   If anyone would like to do something on his or her own, you may also want to consider donating to this worthy cause.   Acknowledgement of your donation or condolences should be sent to Bill’s daughter Joanna at the following address:
