I
stayed in the USAF for just under 25 years. My
favorite memories of my KAS tour are: -
Sailing the coastline in the little sailboats available on base -
Steak and eggs (and a few beers) at the Stork Club following the last mid -
The great Base Fastpitch Softball teams
(multi-service) -
The bowling leagues -
The Baker Flight Christmas party at the Istanbul Hilton -
Weekends in Byukada -
The odiferous ferry rides to/from Istanbul from Yalova
... with fish sandwiches at the Galata Bridge -
Visiting my friends (Jack and Barb Ernst) in Yalova -
My weeklong trip to Jerusalem/Bethlehem/Dead Sea/Baalbek/Damascus/ Beirut Following
KAS I took German language training with later assignment toBerlin/6912
SS. I
was there with my wife (and eventually 4 children) from Dec 63 - Mar 69, with
a 1-year break at USAFSS HQ in 67-68. Next we went to Ft. Meade ... and I was
accepted into OCS ... at Medina Annex to Lackland
AFB. Following commission I had tours in Nakhon Phanom, Thailand 6908 SS

Sound 6947 ESS (Operations Officer), USAFE Intel Staff ... Ramstein AB (lived on Landstuhl
hill near the hospital) where we had another child, followed
by final assignment to NSA in Support to Military Opns I
then worked for Electrospace Corp for 3 years, then
