MARLYN STERN

A Karamürsel Survivor

 Brief Bio (Marlyn D. Stern)

Enlisted in the USAF during September 1958.  First duty assignment as an x1 was at Karamursel, Turkey from June 1959 – Dec 1960.  I stayed in the Air Force.  Also was at Headquarters, USAFSS in San Antonio, 6993rd Scty Sqd at Lackland Annex twice, was 4 years at Elmendorf AFB, Alaska, at Karamursel, Turkey again (second time), and spent one year in Viet Nam.  Viet Nam was an interesting place.  I was on flying status flying missions in C-47s hunting VC, etc. as well as the NCOIC of the reporting section.  Was awarded the Bronze Star for Viet Nam duty.  I also spent two years at Clark AB in the Philippines.  I retired from the USAF during Oct 1978 from the 6993rd Scty Sqn.
I worked for Exxon and JC Penney for a while in San Antonio.  Then I decided to use the GI Bill and attended the University of Texas at San Antonio.  Earned a degree in Accounting.  I have been working for the U.S. General Services Administration, the Inspector General Office as an auditor for 15 years.  Am planning on hanging on for a few years then retire again.  I am married (for many years), have a son and daughter, and seven grandchildren.  I am now 61 years old, and am getting tired of working….
